Celtic crusaders tag rugby festival

Celtic Crusaders in conjunction with Safer Bridgend and South Wales Police have organised a tag festival this Friday at Porthcawl RFC from 6 till 9pm for children from youth clubs around Bridgend aged between 10 and 16 years.

All these children who take part have been given complimentary tickets to the Celtic Crusaders v Salford City Reds game at the Brewery Field on Saturday 23rd August (kick off 5.30pm) where many will see their first professional game of rugby league.

Celtic Crusaders’ Community Development Officer, Matthew Pritchard said: “South Wales Police and Safer Bridgend have been planning many activities throughout this summer and it’s great that the kids have the opportunity to have a go at different sports.

“It’s brilliant to be able to provide these children the access and opportunity to play rugby league and I look forward to this fun tag rugby league festival and seeing them at the Crusader game on 23rd August.”

Over the past three Fridays, Matthew Pritchard has been visiting Nant-y-moel Youth Club to run open training sessions in preparation for the event, while last Wednesday, Crusaders and Welsh international Jordan James took a session in Lawrence Park, Pontycymmer.

“The children have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions,” Pritchard added, “And it’s great to have Jordan working with them.”
