On Saturday 13th March 11 lucky winners of the Ourbobby.com competition organised by PCSO Christian Freeth spent the day Paintballing at TASKFORCE Cowbridge courtesy of Safer Bridgend Partnership.
The children aged between 14yrs and 15yrs are all pupils at Bryntirion Comprehensive Schools and won their day out after entering the Ourbobby.com competition and navigating their way through the site to answer a number of questions about their Neighbourhood Policing Team.
It was an adrenaline packed day which saw the pupils donning camouflage and masks and took part in a variety of different games set by the staff at Taskforce. The local Neighbourhood Policing Team also took part with PCSO Christian Freeth gamely trying to keep up with the youngsters!!
It was a thoroughly exhilarating day as they faced numerous and varied obstacles, from crawling through muddy tunnels, to climbing trees and houses, to defending a fortress, working together to stop the opposition destroying our base and crossing bridges to capture the flag.
Although it was first and foremost a fun day for the pupils it was also an excellent opportunity for them to develop their teamwork skills, leadership skills, effective communication skills, listening and speaking skill and for them to get to know their local Police.
It was fantastic to see them working together to overcome their fears encouraging each other and pushing themselves to achieve their goals.
It was a very successful day which was enjoyed by all involved and the Bridgend Neighbourhood Team intends to build on the success of the day working closely alongside the local Schools to encourage links between the Community and their Neighbourhood Team.
