On Sunday the 4th of September Caeraus Neighbourhood Policing Team seized a motorbike in Hamilton Terrace area, Caerau.
The 26 year-old male from Caerau was stopped by PC Dai Barry following reports that the rider was using the motorcycle inappropriately. Once neighbourhood Police Officers had carried out further enquiries, it was then revealed that the rider had no insurance or drivers licence. The motorcycle was later seized and the rider was dealt with for those offences.
Caeraus Neighbourhood Policing Team have now stated that they will continue to target people who are committing traffic offences and using vehicles in an anti-social manner throughout the area.
PC Dai Barry hopes the fact we have seized one of these bikes will make it clear to those involved that we are not prepared to tolerate this, and residents should now feel reassured that complaints of such behaviour are being dealt with.
Section 59 Warnings will be given to owners and drivers of vehicles used in a manner which causes alarm, distress or annoyance‟. A vehicle can be seized by police if a driver is stopped again by an officer for being involved in similar anti-social behaviour in the following 12 months.
Operation Salvage
Caerau and Maestegs Neighbourhood Policing Team officers PCs Dai Barry, Jo Smith and Ceri Jones and PCSOs Rachel Bargery, David Johnson and Kim Harris, along with Sargent Andy Schofield carried out a successful two day operation over the weekend of Saturday 10th September and Sunday 11th September.
The operation intended to tackle the issues of inappropriate use of off-road motorcycles and any other illegal activity throughout the forestry areas in Maesteg and Caerau - where high visibility mobile patrols were made.
The operation resulted in 2 males being given Section 59 warnings in relation to off-road motorcycling.
The Neighbourhood Policing Teams involved believe that off-road motorcycles have become an issue throughout the area, and carrying out these operations will hopefully send out a firm message that inappropriate use of these vehicles will not be tolerated in the area.
