South Wales Police operation targets scrambler annoyance in the Kenfig nature reserve, Porthcawl, resulting in 9 first warnings being issued.
The Porthcawl Neighbourhood Policing Team has carried out an operation, named Ennium, to tackle scrambler bike annoyance, and illegal motor vehicle anti social behaviour, in and around the Kenfig National Nature Reserve.
The officers were joined by the South Wales Police Off Road Motorcycle Team, to patrol the dunes, and as a result of the operation 9 First Warning Notices (under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act) were issued.
South Wales Police Sergeant Jason McGill who led the operation stated “The operation was carried out in direct response to the concerns of our community. The high visibility patrols will deliver a clear message to any scrambler related annoyance offenders that their behaviour will not be tolerated, and that the police will use a range of tactics to apprehend them.”
Sergeant Jason McGill continues “Illegal motor vehicles are damaging the reserve site, causing irreversible harm to the specialised habitats, and plant communities. The Porthcawl Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to target off road offenders, through the issuing of initial First Warning Notices, and subsequent vehicle seizures to ensure the site is protected, and can be enjoyed by the public.”
