The Aberkenfig Neighbourhood Policing Team, and community partners have a held a sports fun day for young persons in Sarn. The event at the Sarn Life Centre included a range of sporting activities including football, rugby, along with a barbecue, prize draws, and music by a DJ.
Matthew Rainbow (aged 12), stated “It was great to be able to play football with the local police officers, and it was a lot of fun to meet up with friends during our school holidays.”
Councillor Glan Walters (Chairman of the Sarn and Bryncethin Community Association) stated “The fun day event was arranged to support local people and engage our community, bringing together our Neighbourhood Policing Team and local young persons. It’s hoped the day will be the first of many such activity based days at the Sarn Life Centre.”
Sarn Police Community Support Officer Hayley Hillman stated “It was great to see our local young persons enjoying themselves, and taking part in a number of activities. These community based events allow local people to interact with the police, and help further develop the strong relationship between the Neighbourhood Policing Team, our community partners, and our communities, towards joint working community enhancing activities.”
PCSO Hayley Hillman continues “The day was very much partnership led, and included support from Odeon Cinema, Filco Foods, Sarn and Bryncethin Community Association, Sarn Community Council, and Sarn Credit Union.”
