Caerau Communities First celebrated the opening of their new community offices at Caerau Police Station, in Dyffryn Road on Monday, 24 July by hosting a family fun day.
Janice Gregory AM officially opened the offices, which will be occupied by Communities First workers and the Bridgend Association of Voluntary Organisations (BAVO) and South Wales Police.
The office will be open to members of the community for issues relating to the community and the Communities First Programme. People can also raise non-emergency police issues, but it is not a manned police station.
After the launch, Communities First hosted a family fun day at the Riverboat Club and Athletic Field. More than 500 local people attended. The Noddfa Dance Troupe gave a dance display, Amy Jenkins and Lloyd Grimes won the Elizabeth John Memorial Cup and the Caerau Communities First Youth Awards for their outstanding achievements in services to the Brownies and Guides and for boxing achievements.
There were indoor activities including colouring competitions, storytelling, balloon modelling and displays from local organisations. Outside activities included, sumo suits, bouncy castle, football tournament and penalty shootout, nail and face painting, hair braiding, St John Ambulance display, fire engine, Cyberlink bus and information stands.
Communities First workers would like to thank all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes and everyone else who contributed to such a great day.
