Police Community Support Officers based at Aberkenfig and Bridgend were out and about during Rogue Trader week (March 22 – 29) supported by Safer Bridgend advising elderly and vulnerable residents on how to reduce the opportunity to becoming a victim of crime at the hands of a rogue trader.
Residents in Cefn Glas, Bettws and Llangeinor were reassured that crime is coming down in their area and were given some top tips in dealing with telephone scams and door to door sales people.
Neighbourhood PCSO Hilary Hillman commented on the level of security already being used, which included door viewers and door chains. ”It was great to see that residents felt confident in saying no to callers at their door and that the door chain assisted in keeping out unwanted people.
“Always remember to use your chain and check the identification of all callers.
“If in doubt, keep them out.”
