Sunnyside residents are enjoying stress-free parking thanks to work done by Newcastle Neighbourhood Policing Team.
After parking was named as a recurring issue in the local PACT meeting, PCSO Christian Freeth and the team worked with Sunnyside residents to identify peak times for the problem.
In response, the team conducted extra high visibility patrols at the peak times to prevent vehicles parking illegally in the access-only street.
To date, the team have stopped 25 vehicles entering the street illegally, and have been educating motorists on the law regarding parking in access-only vicinities.
PCSO Christian Freeth said: “These extra patrols have made a significance difference to the parking situation in the area. On a recent patrol there were 22 free spaces available for residents to use, for which they are grateful for.”
“We will continue these proactive patrols on a regular basis to educate motorists and further reduce illegal parking.”
The next PACT meeting for Newcastle will be held at The Council Chambers, BCBC, Angel St, on Monday 17th August, 7pm.
