The residents of Sunnyside in Bridgend are enjoying stress-free parking thanks to the work of Safer Bridgend.
After parking was identified as a recurring issue at the local PACT meeting, PCSO Christian Freeth and his colleagues on the Newcastle Neighbourhood Policing Team worked with Sunnyside residents to identify peak times for the problem.
They conducted additional high visibility patrols at peak times to prevent motorists from parking their vehicles illegally in the access-only street.
To date, the team has stopped 25 vehicles entering the street illegally, and has been educating motorists on the law regarding parking in access-only vicinities.
PCSO Freeth said: “The extra patrols have made a significant difference to the parking situation in the area. On a recent patrol there were 22 free spaces available for residents to use.
“We will continue to run these proactive patrols on a regular basis to educate motorists and issue Fixed Penalty Notices if necessary to continue to reduce illegal parking.”
The next PACT meeting for Newcastle will be held at The Council Chambers, BCBC, Angel St, on Monday 19th June, 7pm.
