New Police Vehicle to Enhance Patrols

The new Police 4x4

When the Ogmore Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team heard they were having a new team member, they didn’t realise a four-wheeled dream machine would be pulling up in the station.

The latest recruit to the Valley team is a brand new Ford 4x4, with an impressive skill set sure to advance and improve policing in the vicinity. Ideal for driving in grassy and rocky terrain, the spacious vehicle will allow officers to cover difficult ground more efficiently whilst out and about.

Neighbourhood Sergeant Chris Truscott said: “Having the new 4x4 means we’ll be able to conduct more efficient high visibility reassurance patrols in areas of the valley that were previously harder to reach, such as farm tracks and rural land. It will also be really useful in operations to tackle scrambler bike annoyance and other off-road offences. ”

The addition comes at a time when officers are also making regular use of pedal bikes to carry out tours of duty, in a bid to patrol more concealed surroundings and help the environment.

Although the vehicle will mainly be used for patrols further up the valley, the 4x4 will also be available for use in other areas of the Maesteg policing sector.

Sgt. Truscott added: “With the new vehicle on board, people in the valley can take comfort knowing more areas are being effectively patrolled on a more frequent basis, making communities safer and increasing police presence.”
