NPT Officer Rides To The Rescue

Pc Joeli Sweeney and Pc Kath Eynon riding Toby and Marshall

For those of you who were shopping in Bridgend Town the other Saturday and thought that the rider on one of the police horses looked familiar and very similar to one of the Bridgend Neighbourhood Policing Team Officers - you were not mistaken - that rider was our very own Morfa Town Community Officer PC Joeli Sweeney.

After successfully completing an 18 week ACPO Standard Riding Course, PC Sweeney has now ripped up her ā€˜L’ plates and can be found patrolling the streets of Bridgend on one of the police horses. She is now a Reserve Rider for the Mounted Section and provides additional mounted support to Bridgend BCU, as well as force wide and national major events.

On February 28th at approximately 1pm, PCs Joeli Sweeney and Kath Eynon riding horses Toby and Marshall were patrolling Nolton Street when a call came in regarding a woman who had snatched a china bird worth £50 from Nolton Antiques. The officers attended the incident and went on to arrest the woman in connection to the theft.

So although PC Sweeney may not always be patrolling the town on foot – this shows that she now has plenty of horse power to help make those arrests!
