New Trading Standards Team Launch Clampdown

Wales Heads of Trading Standards have launched a new Wales Illegal Money Lending Unit and Hotline number. The eight strong team of officers who comprise the Illegal Money Lending Unit will help people having problems with illegal money lenders throughout

Oldcastle primary School has taken the 2008 Road safety title after beating off stiff competition at the Odeon Cinemas, Bridgend. Following several preliminary rounds, the final proved to be a real test, with lots of hard questions to answer. This was no problem for the finalists however, as the close competition saw runners-up Ysgol Cynwyd Sant beaten only by a 2 point margin, with the other finalists falling in close behind.

Bike safety and drugs and alcohol awareness are the hot topics in the GarwValley at the moment, with more children and teenagers than ever before taking to their bikes, and the growing concerns about drugs and alcohol.


OPERATION JAGUAR results in 524 arrests

South Wales Police can confirm a total of 524 people have been arrested as a result of Operation Jaguar. Officers have swooped on drug dealers, burglars, car criminals and members of organised crime gangs, during a two-day blitz to crack down on crime.


Opportunity for people who use drug and alcohol services to get more involved in planning them

Bridgend Substance Misuse Action Team has arranged a series of workshops to support people who use drug and alcohol services to become more involved in how they are planned. The workshops are being delivered by New Link Wales and will give people the chance to develop skills in communication, managing meetings, how to be assertive as well as explaining how drug and alcohol services are planned.
