The Ogmore Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team has carried out a Pact led Operation named Denver to target anti social behaviour in the Blackmill, Nantymoel, Ogmore Vale, and Pant-Yr-Awel areas.
The operation involved high visibility foot patrols throughout identified anti social behaviour problem areas, with a focus on housing estates, bus shelters, parks, and shops.
The operation focused on the evening time, where groups of youths gather on streets, and incidents of an anti social manner are most common.
As a result of the operation 48 person stop checks were carried out, and 12 ASBO referrals were submitted.
Operation Denver allowed officers to target young persons, who have been causing annoyance to members of the public, including damage to properties, public disorder incidents, and drinking alcohol.
Police Community Support Officer Richard Thomas, who led Operation Denver, stated “The operation was intelligence led and directly targeted anti social behaviour hotspot areas throughout the OgmoreValley. The problem of anti social behaviour has been identified as a priority for partnership action in recent PACT meetings for Blackmill, Ogmore Vale, and Nantymoel. The Ogmore Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team will simply not tolerate anti social behaviour, and operations will be ongoing throughout the Valley to deter offences, and positive action will be taken against offenders.”
Community members with any information on anti social behaviour, are urged to contact Bridgend Police Station on 01656 655 555, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Community members are urged to inform their Neighbourhood Policing Teams of any concerns they have via approaching officers on the beat, or via upcoming Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings, with meeting dates being available from www.saferbridgend.org.uk, and clicking on the PACT Information link.
