Under the current legislation, the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 soon to be replaced by the Control of Dogs legislation under the Clean Neighborhood and Environment Act 2005, (presently with the Welsh Assembly Government). |

UK wide the cleanup costs are running at £m each day in the UK it is estimated about 900 tons are deposited. |
| What help is available? |
Many animal charities and pet shops offer advice to the public, BCBC enforcement officers and the Dogs Trust give out in formation to the public using the Media, and person to person talks with dog walkers. |
| What is being done locally? |
Enforcement, and patrolling with the South Wales Police PCSO's in the borough. |
