A fair cop as Rhydian meets the Neighbourhood team

It was a fair cop as X-Factor finalist Rhydian Roberts was on hand last earlier this month (December 4) to help to officially re-open the Sainsbury’s Superstore at McArthur Glen, Bridgend following a major £8 million refit and expansion which has seen the store increase in size to 53,000 square feet.

As part of the redevelopment Sainsbury’s has again provided the Neighbourhood Police Team with a dedicated office at the front of the store.

The McArthur Glen Sainsbury’s was the first of the national retailer’s outlets to provide such a facility to local police officers and now there are more than 30 police offices in Sainsbury’s store nationwide.

Neighbourhood Police Sergeant Carl Morgan said: ”Our local officers were at the opening celebrations and used the opportunity to promote crime prevention advice with particular emphasis on personal security when shopping and on autocrime, and our Christmas jingle bells initiative.

“We are very grateful to Sainsbury’s who have provided us with a new police room in a joint initiative with South Wales Police which will be of great assistance in providing our policing service and provide reassurance both to retailers in the area as well as to the public.

“However, due to such a massive attendance, officers were also called upon to assist with crowd control and ensure the safety of Rhydian, ensuring a great day was had by all.”
