New Partnership slashes crime by half in Bridgend

McArthurGlen Bridgend has helped to slash crime by nearly 47 per cent at its Derwen Business Park base over the past six months thanks to a new crime-fighting partnership.

The success comes after the designer outlet and its neighbours joined forces last October with South Wales Police and the Safer Bridgend Community Partnership to form the Derwen Business Partnership Against Crime (DBPAC).

The new initiative has helped cut crime in half since its launch and has since been recognised by the Home Office with a Safer Business Award.

Wayne Morgan MBE, chairman of the partnership, and facilities manager at McArthurGlen Bridgend said: "The partnership has been a huge success for McArthurGlen and the surrounding area. Tenants and staff alike have felt the benefits of this new organisation and we're getting more and more local businesses asking to sign up."

The Derwen Business Partnership Against Crime includes McArthurGlen Bridgend, Sainsbury's, The Harvester Restaurant and Holiday Inn Express as well as HMP and YOI Parc prison and South Wales Police.
