Officers from South Wales Police are reminding members of the public to be vigilant against theft of fuel from motor vehicles.
Crime Reduction Officer for Bridgend PC Gwyn Batten said: “There has recently been an increase in the Bridgend borough of theft of fuel from vehicles, the increase in fuel prices has made fuel an attractive proposition for criminals”
There are a few simple steps you can take to avoid becoming a victim:
- If possible park your vehicle in a garage overnight.
- If a garage is not available then park your vehicle in a well-lit, busy area.
- Ensure you have a locking petrol cap.
- You may also wish to consider having an anti-siphon device fitted to your vehicle.”
If you witness any incidents of fuel theft or have information relating to this crime contact South Wales Police on 01656 655555. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
