Safer Bridgend Community Safety Partnership have secured a weekly information spot on the Lee Jukes breakfast show on Bridge FM, the county’s favourite local radio station.

Ynysawdre underpass transformed

A problem underpass in Ynysawdre which has been blighted by graffiti for years has been transformed by local youngsters into a blaze of colourful pictures.

Youngsters get the vibe this summer

Newcastle neighbourhood Police Community Support Officer Christian Freeth has been working with Bridgend Youth Service throughout August supporting a range of centre-based services aimed at the young people of the area in a special Summer Vibe initiative.

School hosts road safety competition

Pupils from Pen-Y-Bont School in Bridgend have taken part in an end of year Road Safety Competition which will help them to remain safe while out and about during the school holidays and beyond.

Sport hits the streets in rugby league festival

Youngsters took to the streets to compete in the boroughs second street rugby league festival of 2010. After the resounding success of the first tournament where 60 children from Caerau, Nantymoel, Sarn and Wildmill take part, teams once again made the trip to the Waterton ground in hope of being crowned champions.

Thomas wins Safer Bridgend car crime competition

There were smiles all round when 8 year old Thomas Hutt from Brackla was presented with 1st prize for winning the Car Crime Competition held on Central West Police Open Day on 4th July. Thomas was successful in identifying the 10 factors which made the car, a Mitsubishi Colt kindly donated by Nathaniels for the day, appealing to the passing thief.

Operation phoenix comes to Maesteg

Operation Phoenix is the name given to the Safer Bridgend partnership initiative from South Wales Fire and Rescue service to reduce arson related behaviour across Bridgend and offers an opportunity for young people to learn about arson and the consequences of fire setting, hoax calls, fire safety in their homes and how it can affect them and their families.

Over 50’s are safer from burglary in Bridgend

Crimes against older people are particularly distasteful, but fortunately in Bridgend, those aged 50 years and over are less at risk of burglary than other age groups.


Newer cars are less likely to be stolen

Vehicle crime is decreasing and technology has ensured that modern cars have never been more secure. In addition, all cars manufactured before October 1998 are fitted with electronic immobilisers. Theft of a new car is now almost impossible without first obtaining the keys.

Farm watch - fighting crime in the rural communities of the Ogmore Valley

Police in The Ogmore Valley are forging closer links with their rural communities.

Neighbourhood Officers have launched a Farm Watch - a partnership lead initiative - which will foster improved relations between the police and agricultural landowners and farmers to fight rural crime throughout the Ogmore Valley.
