Dog Fouling

What is Dog Fouling?

Under the current legislation, the Dogs (Fouling of Land) Act 1996 soon to be replaced by the Control of Dogs legislation under the Clean Neighborhood and Environment Act 2005, (presently with the Welsh Assembly Government).

Who is affected?

Every person that encounters it plus the environmental impact upon areas where it occurs.

What does it cost?

UK wide the cleanup costs are running at £m each day in the UK it is estimated about 900 tons are deposited.

What help is available?

Many animal charities and pet shops offer advice to the public, BCBC enforcement officers and the Dogs Trust give out in formation to the public using the Media, and person to person talks with dog walkers.

What is being done locally?

Enforcement, and patrolling with the South Wales Police PCSO's in the borough.

Further information?

The Fixed Penalty Fine is £75, if this is unpaid and it goes to prosecution, the Magistrate can fine up to £1000.More information is available on the following websites

This is Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014. It sets out our long-term strategic vision for integrated, inclusive and cohesive communities and includes an Action Plan that provides the framework for future activities in this area. The Strategy has been developed by Safer Bridgend in partnership with other public, private and voluntary sector bodies represented on the Local Service Board and with involvement of the wider community. We want everyone who lives or works in the County Borough to play their part in achieving our vision.

There has been a recent spate of dwelling burglaries in the borough where burglars are breaking into houses, taking the car keys and stealing the car and other posessions.

Home Fire Safety Checks

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services carries out approximately 6000 Home Fire Safety Checks and fit approximately 12000 smoke alarms in homes throughout the area each year.
