Zebra crossing problems for Ogmore Vale children

PCSO Richard Thomas and the Zebra Crossing on High Street.

The zebra crossing on High Street, Ogmore Vale has never been paid so much attention. Local children attending the OgmoreValePrimary School have been facing problems on their journey to school, with commuters rushing past the crossing without stopping to let the children cross.

A priority raised from the last PACT meeting, the police have taken to the High Street in a bid to slow down passing traffic to let the children cross safely. Officers have been conducting morning patrols at the zebra crossing to help the children, and hopefully to get the message across to local residents to slow down not just when a bobby is there, but all the time.

A larger, higher profile operation ‘Zig Zag’ will be taking place at 8am on Thursday 18th October as part of the ‘Not in my Neighbourhood week’ to reassert the priority of driver awareness and road safety.
