Pontycymmer Police Station has received an interior makeover, thanks to the help of 6 young people involved in the Youth Offending Team reparation programme. The police station has been painted by the young people over a number of weeks of refurbishment work.

Ogmore and Garw Valley Neighbourhood Policing Sergeant Chris Truscott stated “The involvement of young people in the refurbishment of Pontycymmer Police Station has facilitated communication with the police officers, and will definitely contribute to a greater level of community engagement. The young people have been able to interact positively with the Neighbourhood Policing Team, along with helping to create a police station that will benefit the entire Pontycymmer community.”

Young person Nathan Jones, who helped paint the station, stated “It’s great to see that our hard work has helped make the police station a more pleasant workplace for the officers on the Neighbourhood Policing Team.”

YOT Reparation Officer Angharad Hughes stated “It’s been very encouraging working alongside South Wales Police, and it has provided a beneficial platform for more projects that will further enhance levels of community engagement.”
