Winners Don’t Carry Weapons says Pyle NPT
South Wales Police united with KPC Youth Centre in Pyle on Monday 9th February in a bid to teach young residents that winners don’t carry weapons.
As part of the youth centre’s WIN Project (What I Need), PCSOs Jon Howe and Richard Couch paid a visit to KPC to talk about the dangers of carrying knives and other weapons.
The under 12 age group and over 13 group were both treated to 45 minute talks with the officers, and learnt about the laws surrounding possession of weapons as well as the potential hazards that come with being armed.
The talks were designed to fit in with the ‘Dealing with Aggression’ unit of the WIN project, with youths learning that violent crime is not the answer.
South Wales Police PCSO Howe of Pyle Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Many of the youths were surprised that you can spend up to 4 years in jail for possession of an offensive weapon alone. It is important that young people are aware of the dangers of carrying weapons as well as the consequences.
“The team effort between South Wales Police and KPC Youth Centre is a prime example of how the community can pull together to help our young people avoid the dangers of knife crime. Whilst we do not have a problem with knife crime here in Pyle, we must all work together to keep it that way.
