Think as you Drink campaign for the Borough

Safer Bridgend Community Safety partnership will be distributing 20,000 safety beer mats to the tables in the pubs and clubs of Bridgend borough.

Bridgend County Borough’s pubs and clubs will soon see their tables adorned in the beer mats which encourage safer drinking and personal safety whilst on a night out in the Borough.

Bridgend County Borough Council have given their full support to the campaign and encourage safe and responsible drinking at this enjoyable time of year.

The beer mats display personal safety messages: tips for the Boys on one side and tips for the Girls on the other. They also display hard hitting messages such as:

‘Don’t let a drink ruin your life, lose licence, lose livelihood, lose live!’

‘What bars will you be in tonight? Think safe, drink safe, be safe’.

Crime Prevention Officer Gwyn Batten hopes that the beer mats will get these important messages across, especially in the run up to Christmas, a typically busy time of year for the police.

He stated, “We are always looking for innovative ways to get safety messages across to the public. Hopefully the important messages displayed on the beer mats will catch people’s eyes and make them think whilst they drink”.
