First Bus Company, the main provider of bus services in Bridgend is fully backing the recently launched Rat on a Rat 2007. Launched last week, Rat on a Rat 2007 run by Bridgend Police and the Safer Bridgend Partnership, focus on the drug dealers that operate in the community, and how they can be removed to disrupt the higher level of supply. Rat on a Rat posters are now up on most buses in the Borough, providing a wide audience of travellers the information and confidence needed to make a call to help stop the drug dealers in the community.

Leigh Thompson, the operations manager for Bridgend is keen to support any initiatives and partnership working that is ongoing within the borough, and says that “the buses play a major factor in the community and provide a good link between the police and the people.” He mentioned that using the Rat on a Rat posters on the buses enables people to have a good look at the poster and take in the information, especially if it is a journey that they have to take everyday, which is not only useful for the travelling customers, but also for the drivers.

Superintendent Tim Jones has vowed to make the borough an uncomfortable place for drug dealers, and there have already been several successes as a result of the campaign.

Anyone with information about drug dealing is encouraged to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

For more information on getting help relating to drugs call DAN 24/7 on 0800 633 5588.
