Operation Harbour nets drug arrest

The Aberkenfig Neighbourhood Policing Team arrested 1 female for possession of Heroin, during a drug warrant at an Ynysawdre property, as part of OperationHarbour.

As part of the drug enforcement operation, leaflets were also distributed tocommunity members asking for them to ‘RAT on a RAT’, and report any information on drug activity to Crimestoppers, or via their local Neighbourhood Beat Officers.

Ynysawdre Neighbourhood Beat Officer, PC Karl Stephens who led the operation stated “The Neighbourhood Policing Team are committed to removing drugs from our communities, and on this occasion a quantity of Class A drugs has been seized and an arrest made. We will continue to work closely with our communities, to ensure drug related offenders are targeted.”

PC Stephens continues “I urge community members to rat on a rat, and pass any information on drug related crime to the police, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously.”

South Wales Police urges community members with any information on drug related crime to contact Bridgend police station on 01656 655 555, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

This is Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014. It sets out our long-term strategic vision for integrated, inclusive and cohesive communities and includes an Action Plan that provides the framework for future activities in this area. The Strategy has been developed by Safer Bridgend in partnership with other public, private and voluntary sector bodies represented on the Local Service Board and with involvement of the wider community. We want everyone who lives or works in the County Borough to play their part in achieving our vision.

There has been a recent spate of dwelling burglaries in the borough where burglars are breaking into houses, taking the car keys and stealing the car and other posessions.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services carries out approximately 6000 Home Fire Safety Checks and fit approximately 12000 smoke alarms in homes throughout the area each year.
