Launch of school watch

Archbishop McGrath Roman Catholic school pupils joined forces with Police after the school was targeted by vandals during last years summer holidays.

Sixteen school council members visited people living near by to ask them to be vigilant against vandalism.

The pupils knocked doors and gave out leaflets with Pc Sarah Morgan and Pcso Lisa Johns. “It went really well” said Pc Morgan, Schools community police officer. “What we are doing is a partnership inititive between schools, police and the community, the people who live around the school. We asked them if they do see anything in the school holidays to contact us. There residents were very positive and the pupils feel as though they contributed in some way”.

This is Bridgend County Borough’s Community Cohesion Strategy for 2011 - 2014. It sets out our long-term strategic vision for integrated, inclusive and cohesive communities and includes an Action Plan that provides the framework for future activities in this area. The Strategy has been developed by Safer Bridgend in partnership with other public, private and voluntary sector bodies represented on the Local Service Board and with involvement of the wider community. We want everyone who lives or works in the County Borough to play their part in achieving our vision.

Your car may be at risk if you don't hide your keys

There has been a recent spate of dwelling burglaries in the borough where burglars are breaking into houses, taking the car keys and stealing the car and other posessions.

Home Fire Safety Checks

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services carries out approximately 6000 Home Fire Safety Checks and fit approximately 12000 smoke alarms in homes throughout the area each year.
