Launch of Bridgend Evaluated Early Parental Intervention Programme (EEPIP).

On October 1st 2007 the Bridgend EEPIP Service will be launched in Bryngarw House. The service offers support to parents living in the LlynfiValley and Bettws areas who are seeking help in overcoming their problems with drugs or alcohol and need support to provide good parenting for their children. The service runs from within the On Track [1] team in both areas and will help parents to access the additional help and support they might need.

EEPIP works alongside other substance misuse agencies to provide specific help with parenting skills. EEPIP is a voluntary programme. People joining the programme can expect one to one support with parenting skills from one-to-one workers and health workers as well as support for their children in and out of school and in getting any extra help that the families might need.

Bridgend is one of only four areas in Wales which has been chosen by the Welsh Assembly Government to deliver EEPIP and the outcome of the pilots will be used to help develop national services. The Bridgend EEPIP service has been developed and supported by Bridgend Substance Misuse Action Team and Children and Young People’s Partnership.

[1]On Track is a multi-disciplinary team who provide support to families in the LlynfiValley and Bettws areas to achieve the best outcomes for their children.

Angharad Evans, Substance Misuse Development Manager for Bridgend County Borough Council and Bridgend Local Health Board describes EEPIP as being ‘Sometimes people with drug and alcohol problems need extra help in managing the demands of family life. This project provides a much-needed opportunity for them to receive this support whilst they also get support from substance misuse agencies.’

If you would like to know more about EEPIP then please ring On Track on 01656 810012 and ask for an EEPIP worker.
