Laleston Scout Field clear up

On Saturday, 7th March, 2009, Laleston Neighbourhood Policing Officers - PC Tim Low and PCSOs Rob Chapman and Donovan Smith - assisted Bridgend District Scouts in their clear up campaign at the Laleston Scout Field.

The Scout District are clearing the land given to them and are planning to bring it back into use for local scouts. The plan is to clear the brambles, plant trees and hedges around the perimeter and then grass the central area for activity use.

A total of 32 people braved the weather and turned up at the site - including 18 scouts and 4 RAF personnel. Together, the RAF and police teams made a tremendous impact on the brambles, so much so that the organiser Pauline Sloan had to go back on Sunday morning with a camera to convince herself it was real!

Pauline is asking that if anyone has any information regarding the history of the site - particularly if there are any photographs from when it was used and including the allotments - please contact her, either on Tel 01656 668852 or email
