Is The New Year a New Start For You?

Though New Year’s resolutions are best known for the speed at which they are forgotten, the Wales Centre for Health believe that making a few changes to your lifestyle can have a positive effect on your overall health.

To coincide with the season for self-improvement, the Wales Centre for Health is launching a new campaign called ‘Healthy Me / Iechydi Mi’asking the public for their top tips for keeping healthy, in return for which they could be in with a chance to win a tailor-made exclusive spa break at a luxury hotel in Wales.

From the obvious – like getting your 5 a day or swapping white bread for wholemeal – to the unconventional tips such as chewing raw garlic at the first sign of a cold (though we do suggest you stop when those around you can no longer bear it) the Wales Centre for Health wants to hear from you!

Getting involved couldn’t be easier. All you have to do is send your top tip along with your name, where you come from and contact phone number to:

The Wales Centre for Health’s Media Officer, Jo Menzies, will be keeping an online diary of her attempt to stick to her New Year’s Resolution to ‘eat a little less and move a little more’ in Jo Blog

The purpose of this campaign is to highlight how easy it is to make small, positive, gradual changes to lead a healthier life. The Wales Centre for Health wants to hear what you have to say about leading a healthy lifestyle and learn from – and share – top tips for health.

For the duration of this month long campaign beginning today, the Wales Centre for Health will be uploading information on www.wch.wales.nhs.uk covering the broadest spectrum of health and wellbeing, inviting tips on:

* Diet and nutrition

* Physical activity

* Mental health and wellbeing

* Infections

* Sensible alcohol intake

* Quitting smoking or substance misuse

* All other health related issues.
