Garw Rules!

Bike safety and drugs and alcohol awareness are the hot topics in the GarwValley at the moment, with more children and teenagers than ever before taking to their bikes, and the growing concerns about drugs and alcohol.

As a result of these concerns, Safer Bridgend, the Community Safety Partnership has set up an exciting day for all in the Valley. Bike safety will be addressed through the help of several people, including Bad Bikes, HR Cycles, the BCBC Road Safety Team and members of the Safer Bridgend team between 12 and 4.

There will be a quiz, free bike safety checks, hints and tips for safety on the roads and information on how to have more fun with your bike! There will also be innovative free bike forms, where bike owners will be able to fill out their details and add a photo of their bike in case the worst happens. Anybody with a bike is welcome.

Following the Bike Safety afternoon, Clare Fauvel from the Local Health Board will be putting on a drugs and alcohol quiz in response to requests from the youngsters in Pontycymer. The quiz will take place at the Garw Leisure Centre at 5pm and will include prizes.

For further details about the day please contact Conway Hawkins on 01656 679533
