Extra patrols over the festive period

For the next few weeks during the run up to Christmas, Bridgend Sector Police will be carrying out extra patrols in the Town Centre and the surrounding Retail Areas, targeting Auto Crime, Shoplifting and Pickpockets.

The aim of Operation Forum is to target anyone in these areas who is involved in a criminal activity and enable positive action to be taken to disrupt them, detect offences and prosecute offenders.

Officers will patrol the areas either in plain clothes or in uniform to carry out high visibility work including enforcement, prevention and crime reduction and give reassurance to the public.

Inspector Jay Winslade-Gregory states "The policing of our retail areas will be significantly increased during the run up to the festive period. Officers will be both highly visible and not so visible for the purpose of protecting our community. We want the criminals active in our area to be looking over their shoulders and feel distinctly uncomfortable. Please be vigilant and also look out for your fellow shoppers".
