Every link counts targeting speed reduction in Maesteg.

Maesteg Neighbourhood Policing Team and young people from every link counts

Pc Dai Rees recently organised Operation Filament targeting Speed reduction as part of a partnership between Maesteg Neighbourhood Policing team and a local charity Every Link Counts, which helps young people who suffer mild to severe learning difficulties.

Instruction was given in the use of the hand held speed cameras at Maesteg Police station. A practice session took place on a nearby industrial estate then onto various locations throughout the borough.

Gareth Penny, the co-ordinator of the charity stated “The youngsters fully enjoyed the day and their involvement with the Maesteg NPT, and from their experiences gained a lot of confidence, having taken great steps to speak to offencing motorists. The impact upon these motorists was huge. Members of the public approached us, interested in what we were doing and thought this was a great initiative for the area – as did local councillors who also visited one of the locations”.
