Enforcement operation carried out in Maesteg resulting in 14 arrests

Neighbourhood Policing Teams throughout the Maesteg policing sector have conducted a multiple crime enforcement operation, named Anchorage, resulting in 14 arrests.

The operation involved officers from the OgmoreValley, GarwValley, Maesteg, Caerau, and Aberkenfig Neighbourhood Policing Teams.

South Wales Police Sergeant Chris Truscott, who led the operation, stated “This enforcement operation resulted in 14 arrests, at locations throughout the Maesteg policing sector. There is a determination amongst the Neighbourhood Policing Teams to positively deal with offenders in order to make our valleys even safer places.”

The operation also involved a focus on crime prevention with Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s) conducting beat patrols on the look out for vulnerable vehicles, in an attempt to prevent vehicle related crime.

During the operation 175 vulnerable vehicles were identified, as part of a vulnerable vehicle awareness scheme. The vehicle owners will be receiving letters from the Safer Bridgend Community Safety Partnership highlighting the type of vulnerability spotted, to raise public awareness about the importance of properly securing vehicles, and keeping any valuables in a safe place.

Sergeant Chris Truscott continues “The Neighbourhood Policing Team asks that community members take sensible precautions to secure their vehicles, and do not advertise their valuables to criminals. The vulnerable vehicle awareness beat patrols are ongoing.”

Community members with any information on crime are urged to contact Bridgend Police Station on 01656 655 555, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Alternatively community members with information on crime can approach officers on the beat, or inform their Neighbourhood Policing Team via upcoming Partners and Communities Together (PACT) meetings, with meeting dates being available from www.saferbridgend.org.uk, and clicking on the PACT Information link.
