Clip-clop Cops hit town centre

Police horses patroling the streets

Rogue parkers and dodgy drivers beware: four legged officers’ Danby and Lancer are on the streets of Bridgend issuing fixed penalty notices.

Accompanied by their jockeys (who come in handy with the writing of the tickets) PC Sharon Heir and PC Sian Salisbury, Danby and Lancer have been patrolling the busy streets of Bridgend in an attempt to keep residential roads clear from ‘shopping traffic’ during the busy period in the run up to Christmas.

Police horses on Cheltenham terrace

Local resident Mrs. Howells of Cheltenham Terrace, of Freeschool Court Bridgend was impressed to see the horses out on street patrols, and stated “It’s lovely to see an extra presence on the streets.

Parking in this area has been terrible for us residents, I usually have to get up very early to bring my car to the front of the house to get a parking space. The officers really have been making a difference, we know they can’t be everywhere at once but it

make people think twice before parking where they shouldn’t”.

A driver being issued a fixed penalty notice

Parking in this area was a Pact priority, and Community Beat Officer Kelly Thomas made it her mission to sort out the problem, increasing patrols, and of course getting the mounted officers in to help.

PC Thomas hopes that the residents will notice a difference in the coming months; through hard work and determination hopefully some respect for the residents will be restored to this part of town.
