Action taken at Bridgend Recreation ground against anti-social behaviour

Between the 22nd and 27th of September, a joint operation took place at the Bowls Hall Car Park at Bridgend Recreation Ground after intelligence was received from local residents about anti-social behaviour that was occurring in the area.

Bridgend County Borough Council, South Wales Police, Safer Bridgend Community Safety Partnership and CCTV monitored activities that were taking place and took appropriate action to combat the behaviour.

Residents had raised the issues after they felt that their quality of life was being affected. Issues such as speeding vehicles, driving in an anti social manner, noise, littering, urinating and improper use of the car park were raised and targeted.

69 Anti social behaviour warning letters have been sent to the registered keepers of the vehicles. The owners of the vehicles are held responsible and the vehicle may be seized. Most persistent offenders will be visited by the Police and the Anti Social Behaviour reduction co-ordinator. The Police and the local authority will be taking legal action against those who continue to persist in causing disruption, harassment, alarm and distress to the users of the recreation centre, bowls hall and local residents.

Members of the public are encouraged to report any issue that they feel may be affecting their quality of life, and the partners hope that the good results from this operation will reassure the public that their comments are listened to and acted upon.
