Wildmill expedition

Constables Carpenter, Stewart and Warlow with the young people from Wildmill

Over half term Constables Carpenter, Stewart and Warlow took a group on a day expedition. The group ranging from 11 yrs to 15yrs of age from Wildmill area picked the only rainy day of half term.

They were split into two groups that started at opposite ends of a five mile course along the Glamorgan Heritage coast. Both teams tried their hands at map reading and also left markers at various points around the course. On meeting near Nash point lighthouse the two teams then swapped the grid references relating to the hidden markers to allow the opposition to find the hidden markers. A hot lunch was prepared by the youngsters on the beach, (it had thankfully stopped raining by this time.) before the second half of the walk.

Along the way both teams spotted various wildlife, some saw a episode of Merlin being filmed near Atlantic College, and both teams were chased by animals, one a field of horses after apples the other by a lamb who feigned death before springing up and scaring everyone out of their skin.

Despite the poor weather everyone arrived back still with smiles on their faces.
