Race for Life 2011

Bridgend Neighbourhood Police Officers attended at Newbridge Fields on Sunday, 8th May to police Bridgend's first Cancer Research UK Race for Life. Women of all ages participated in a 5k walk, jog or run - whichever they preferred to do. The race commenced at 11am and there were over 2000 participants (including children and dogs!). A large crowd of spectators cheered on and provided encouragement to everyone in the race.

South Wales Police and the Community Safety Partnership had a number of competitors in the race - Detective Inspector Sue Sidford, Police Constables Joeli Sweeney, Andrea James, Kelly Thomas, Police Community Support Officer Lisa Moore, Zoe Tee and Tracy Jones from the Contact Management Centre, as well as Hannah Richards, Sam Beaumont, and Sarah Rowlatt from the Community Safety Partnership.

There was a wonderful atmosphere in Newbridge Fields, helped along with Bridge FM providing the music and comparing the event. Before the race, the ladies from Curves got everyone in the mood with a quick warm up and after completing the course all participants received a medal, goody bag and water
