Promoting vehicle security

Pcso Meurig Coleman raising awareness with local residents

On the 9th September, Residents of Priory Oak in Brackla received a visit from local PCSOs Meurig Coleman and Jonathan Davies to raise awareness of the importance of vehicle security.

Last year saw a slight increase in the number of reported incidents of thefts from vehicles in the Brackla area, which led to the successful arrest of a local man. Following these incidents, the local Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a letter drop in the area to raise awareness amongst residents to ensure vehicles are always secured when left.

Bracklas local PCSOs have now revisited residents within the area to ensure that residents are still being vigilent and working together in putting the opportunist thief out of business. To reinforce key messages, a car crime reduction pack was handed to local residents containing stickers, an air freshener and a Sat Nav cloth to remove the sucker marks which often indicates to a passing thief whether a Sat Nav may be hidden in the vehicle.

The initiative was well received by local residents, who continue to promote positive messages. The Crime Reduction Tactical Team states "it is encouraging to see that through partnership working, residents are being more vigilant".
