Positive test purchasing result at Pencoed

Alcohol

The licensing team worked with BCBC trading standards and local Neighbourhood Policing teams last month, using young volunteers to purchase alcohol from premises in Pencoed.

Two premises served our underage volunteers which resulted in fines.

The staff at the Min Y Mart served the volunteers six cans of Strongbow, contrary to section 146 licensing act 2003. The seller was dealt a £80.00 penalty notice, whilst the DPS Mr Villiger received a 56 day revocation of his personal license (8 weeks), 2 x £150 fines for two sales, a £300 investigation cost and £250 legal fees, resulting in £850 in total.

The second premise that served the volunteers was Patels newsagent (Lifestyle). The seller was issued a £80.00 penalty notice, 28 days revocation of his personal license and 4 x £1000 fine for four under age sales and licensing issues plus costs.
