Police horses and dogs visit Heronsbridge school
Police Horses and dogs paid a visit to Heronsbridge School in Bridgend as part of the Home Office’s Not in My Neighbourhood Week initiative.
The school, which draws pupils from across the region, were presented with a demonstration by some of South Wales Police’s specially trained dogs with handler Sergeant Ian Roderick as well as a visit by police horses Danby and Yeoman, ridden by PCs Kathryn Eynon and Paul Rees.
The visit which was hailed as a great success by everyone who was there was coordinated by PC Rea David a member of the Oldcastle Neighbourhood Policing Team.
“This visit was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed by all the pupils and their supporters. They were able to meet some of the Force’s drugs dogs as well as see a demonstration involving police dog Comanche assisting in a mock arrest.
“After the dogs had finished their display two police horses came along and we held a question and answer session with the mounted officers about the horses and what they have to do.
“It was an excellent morning with everyone having a great time and learning a little more about what we do in their communities.”
