Latest drugs awareness day for Bridgend
The Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) for Bridgend is planning its latest Drugs Awareness road show, building upon the success of a similar event held in Wildmill in September.
The latest event is being coordinated by Sergeant Mark Watkins and PC Kelly Thomas. It will be held at Bridgend Bus Station on Monday 2 November and run from 12.00pm – 5.00pm.
“The road show is for members of the public, young people, residents, families, or anyone affected by drink or drugs to come and speak to us in a safe environment and learn more about the topics,” said Sergeant Watkins.
“Members of the Neighbourhood Policing Team, the National Health Service, Ogwr Dash, The Yellow Project and other agencies will all be on hand to offer advice and information to anyone affected by drugs or alcohol. There will be a separate private consultation room available at the bus station should anyone want a confidential talk to one of the professionals on the day.
“Drugs misuse in the Bridgend Borough will not be condoned and it is a top priority for the Police. We realise that educating the public about the harmful effects of drugs is as fundamental as enforcement and the Drugs Awareness road shows have been designed to make the police and partner agencies more accessible to the public.”
Neighbourhood Beat Manager PC Stuart Morgan added: “We would urge anyone to come along and speak to us about any concerns they may have and we are sure we will be able to help. This event is about working with the community and helping to educate and inform people about the dangers and side effects of drugs and alcohol misuse.”
“The Drug Awareness Road Show is an exciting opportunity for all members of the public. Residents, young people, parents and families are all welcome to attend and learn more about drugs and alcohol and what local agencies are doing to reduce the harm associated with substance misuse.”
