In collaboration with Safer Bridgend, the Neighbourhood Policing Team for Pencoed has put together a special Hallowe’en event for the young people of the town which will feature fancy dress competitions, live music a ‘DJ’ and lots of traditional Hallowe’en games.

PC Sam Beaumont and her colleagues PCSOs Lauren Dillon and Meurig Coleman have been planning the event for several weeks. It will be held at Pencoed Welfare Hall and be open to all ages.

PC Beaument said: “The evening will be split into two parts. Between 6.00pm and 7.30pm younger children, under the age of 10 years will be able to come along, hopefully in fancy dress and we will have food, games and lots face painting. Then after 7.30pm we will be welcoming older children for the rest of the evening.

“We are very fortunate to have a number of volunteers to help us both in the preparation and throughout the evening and we are very grateful to all of them.

”In addition we have been well supported by many local businesses that have provided food, prizes and other support materials. Without their backing it would not have been possible to create such an exciting night’s entertainment.”

The event takes place on Saturday 31st October 2009 between 6.00 and 7.30pm and then 7.30pm until 10.00pm. Fancy dress is optional but there is a prize for best costume.

PCSO Lauren Dillon said: “Hallowe’en traditionally sees an increase in anti-social behaviour on the streets of Pencoed. This event provides an opportunity for young people to take part in Hallowe’en celebrations in a safe and trouble free environment.”

Entry costs just 50 pence and all money raised will go to the charity Help for Heroes.
