Drugs arrests in Maesteg

The Neighbourhood Policing team for Maesteg and Caerau has been month targeting the possession and supply of controlled drugs in the area during October.

On Thursday October 22nd the Neighbourhood Policing Team executed three search warrants and recovered quantities of cannabis and heroin, making five arrests - four males and one female.

The female and three of the males have received cautions. The remaining male has been charged to court.

Maesteg Neighbourhood Inspector Steve Evans said: “The activities are part of our ongoing fight against the supply of controlled drugs in the Llynfi Valley.

“Drugs can have a devastating impact on individuals and families and we are doing everything we can to keep drugs away from our communities.”
“Our neighbourhood teams work closely with the public and community-led intelligence has played a key role in what we achieve..
“Information from the public is vital to the police and I’d like to thank the public for their continued help and appeal to anyone who has information regarding drug related criminality to contact their local police by ringing 101 or to provide the information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

“As we gather further intelligence there will be more arrests and we will continue to target, not only the homes of those people we believe are involved in the supply of drugs, but also their workplace, a pub, a club or any other place where drugs or stolen property changes hands.”

The Wales Drug and Alcohol Helpline - 0800 6 33 55 88 provides a free and bilingual single point of contact for anyone in Wales wanting further information or help relating to drugs or alcohol. The helpline will assist individuals, their families, carers, and support workers within the drug and alcohol field to access appropriate local and regional services.
