Caerau NPT give away free bike lights and locks to keep children safe.

Pcso Karl Smith fixing lights onto a bike

On Tuesday 16th February officers from Caerau NPT and Sector Inspector Steve Evans attended an Open day at Blaencaerau School. The event was to show possible developments for the school as it is no longer in use, but Caerau NPT used this opportunity to help the children in Caerau Stay Safe on their bikes.

It was noticed by the team, that a number of children were riding around with no lights on their bikes, so instead of taking their bikes off them, officers decided to take positive actions and bid for monies, which they received from Safer Bridgend,South Wales Police and Maesteg town council. They then purchased bike lights and had enough monies left over locks also.

Throughout the day they gave away 24 locks and 37 lights, which were attached to their bikes by the local officers, all of the youths were local and received advice regarding safety whilst riding their bikes and the up keep of it.

Caerau NPT would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended and also for the pancakes and cups of tea throughout the day.
