Alisha Dixon visits KPC youth centre

Alisha Dixon with the Pyle Neighbourhood Policing Team

On Friday the 19th August 2011, Pyle KPC youth centre played host to celebrity Alisha Dixon who is the face and host of this years Children In Need.

KPC youth centre does a fantastic job of keeping our local young people off the street and entertaining them in school holidays by organising trips away and also after school clubs.

The KPC centre relies heavily on donations and funding from varies organisations. The BBC went to Pyle to film the young people and the outreach workers to give insight into how the funding for the KPC is being well spent. All the young people had opportunity to meet Alisha Dixon and have photos and autographs.

It was also the perfect start for the new Sergeant on the Neighbourhood team, Sgt Jason Jenkins. Although the sergeant has worked in the Pyle area for many years, he is new to the neighbourhood team so to meet a celebrity on his first shift is a good start!

All the film crew were thankful for the hospitality shown by the locals and endeared by the community spirit that still very much exists in the area. PSCO Lloyd said 'It was fantastic meeting Alisha, she is a very grounded person who was brought up in similar surroundings to many of the local children in Pyle and therefore has sound judgement of what this youth centre brings to a community. It was great to see the local young people being rewarded.

Keep your eye out on BBC children in need in November'.
