Don't be a victim of purse dipping

Bridgend Police have received around 45 reports of ‘purse dipping’ in the Bridgend sector since the beginning of December 2007. The victims are elderly females whose purses have been taken from unopened handbags or shopping bags.

Beat the bogus caller

Most people who call at your home will be genuine. But sometimes, people turn up unannounced, with the intention of tricking their way into your home.They are known as ‘distraction burglars’ or ‘bogus callers’, whose only aim is to get into homes to distract people and steal their money or valuables.You should always be aware when someone you don’t know calls at your door.

Due to concerns raised in last weeks Caerau ward PACT meeting about excessive and dangerous speeding of vehicles, a Speeding Operation was undertaken by the Caerau Neighbourhood Policing Team at ‘Heol Ty Wyth’, Nantyffyllon.

The Ospreys come up trumps for young fans

RUBGY stars The Ospreys have come up trumps once again in helping young people keep safe within Ospreylia.

The region has joined forces with project sponsors Npower renewables and South Wales Community Safety Partnerships to produce an Ospreys version of the popular trump cards game.

Some 43 colour cards have been produced as well as a giant A1 poster featuring Osprey squad photos, players’ statistics and key community safety messages.

It’s Official: Bridgend is one of the safest places to live in South Wales

Bridgend Division of the South Wales Police which covers Bridgend, Porthcawl and Maesteg released their annual crime figures today revealing a fantastic drop of a 6.4% drop in all crime for the year 2007 compared to 2006.

Your car may be at risk if you don't hide your keys

There has been a recent spate of dwelling burglaries in the borough where burglars are breaking into houses, taking the car keys and stealing the car and other posessions.

Home Fire Safety Checks

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services carries out approximately 6000 Home Fire Safety Checks and fit approximately 12000 smoke alarms in homes throughout the area each year.
