| Race for Life 2011 | |

Bridgend Neighbourhood Police Officers attended at Newbridge Fields on Sunday, 8th May to police Bridgend's first Cancer Research UK Race for Life. Women of all ages participated in a 5k walk, jog or run - whichever they preferred to do. The race commenced at 11am and there were over 2000 participants (including children and dogs!). A large crowd of spectators cheered on and provided encouragement to everyone in the race. |

| Keeping Kenfig Safe | |

South Wales Police has been working with Kenfig Nature Reserve and local school children to combat anti-social behaviour in the area. Pupils from Ysgol y Ferch O’r Sger, Afon y Felin and Corneli Primary School have been designing posters for the ‘Keeping Kenfig Safe’ campaign. |

| Bridgend Family Information Service annual fun day 2011 | |

Bridgend Family information Service Annual Exhibition & Fun Day took place at the Bridgend Recreation Centre on Thursday 21st April. In the middle of the exciting build up to the Royal Wedding Bridgend Family Information Service chose a ‘Royal’ theme for this year’s event. Organisers and stand holders along with many of the children dressed up as kings, queens, princes and princesses or sported a Royal Wedding t-shirt to add to the fun. |

| Llangynwyd closes the door on burglars | |

Llangynwyd residents awoke this morning (Monday April 18th) of find a large black and orange trailer parked on ‘The Square’.
This was a South Wales Police initiative promoting the 101 non-emergency telephone number. The visit was arranged by Llangynwyd PCSO Bella Rees as part of the ward’s current Burglary PACT priority. |

Maesteg gets 100 new Deputy Sheriffs, as pupils from Plasnewydd Primary School join up with their local neighbourhood policing officers and fire fighters. |

| New Hibernian closed for ten weeks | |

Crime-fighting agencies have joined forces to respond directly to community concerns - closing a Maesteg pub that has been a “hot-spot” for crime and disorder.
The New Hibernian public house, Llwydarth Road, Maesteg has been ordered to close for ten weeks due to repeated and serious levels of anti-social behaviour. |

Officers from the Morfa Wildmill Neighbourhood Policing Team have been joining partners to get stuck in planting trees and shrubs as part of a local environment initiative. |

| Operation LEAP is a high flying Success | |

Maesteg’s Neighbourhood Policing Team has been running a special traffic operation in response to increased public concern about the way some motorists are driving in the Llynfi valley. |

| Day of Action against Drugs | |

South Wales Police arrested 14 people and summonsed another nine to appear in Court following a day of action against drugs in Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan yesterday (Wednesday February 9th). |

| Operation Molecule to target drink drivers in Ogmore Valley | |

Cardiff Blues and Welsh rugby international front row forward Gareth Williams was on hand recently to mark the launch of a police operation in the Ogmore Valley designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drink driving. |
