Bogus callers in the Porthcawl area

Please be aware that bogus charity collectors may be operating in the porthcawl area.

The police have received several reports of two young females in the 40 acre site in porthcawl claiming they are collecting for cancer charities.

Most people who call at your home will be genuine, but sometimes people will turn up with the intention of tricking. if you are in any doubt, ask for identification which will be provided by any registered charity.

All genuine callers will carry an identity card and will not mind waiting if you wish to phone to confirm their identity with the registered charity. if you think a bogus collector or caller have been to your door report it to the police immediatley, dial 9 9 9 and tell them what has happened. try to give a description of the person who called. the earlier the police know that they are in the area the earlier they can investigate.
