Youth Works

Youth Works is a national charitable partnership which exists to help 'at risk' young people play a creative role in regenerating their community and creating safer environments for everyone.

Local Youth Works programmes are built on local partnerships and work with young people aged between 8 and 25 years.

The programmes are based in specifically targeted local neighbourhoods throughout the UK and operate within a holistic community development framework.


What is youth works?

  • Structured and vibrant programmes and activities to provide the young people with the skills, capacity and motivation to become directly involved in their personal development and the regeneration of their local community
  • Improved opportunities allow young people to fulfil their potential and reduce the risk of offending behaviour
  • Enhanced employment opportunities through access to training and educational activities
  • Improvements to the local environment adding to the quality of life of young people and all residents
  • Increased opportunities for young people and older residents to take part in decision taking in their lives and become stakeholders in their communities
  • The whole community benefits from reductions in crime rates, youth nuisance and the fear of crime.

YouthWorks, a programme managed by Groundwork Bridgend & Neath Port Talbot has acquired funds from the Big Lottery and is currently seeking to appoint suitably qualified/experienced workers due to expansion of the programme within the Bridgend area.

There has been a recent spate of dwelling burglaries in the borough where burglars are breaking into houses, taking the car keys and stealing the car and other posessions.

Home Fire Safety Checks

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services carries out approximately 6000 Home Fire Safety Checks and fit approximately 12000 smoke alarms in homes throughout the area each year.
