Domestic Abuse co-ordinator

Natalie Tanner is the Domestic Abuse Coordinator for the Safer Bridgend Community Safety Partnership. Natalies job is to develop a more co-ordinated approach to dealing with domestic violence in Bridgend County.

Domestic abuse appears in many shapes and forms. It can involve physical, sexual, mental or emotional abuse. It may even be a partner or family member controlling somebody's finances, or forcing sex. Some people suffer domestic abuse but fail to report it to the police, whereas other victims do not recognise that they are being subjected to abuse.

Currently, Natalie is in the process of developing a forum where representatives from South Wales Police, Bridgend County Borough Council, Women's Aid, social services, the courts, housing associations, charities and many more organisations all work together strategically to raise awareness of domestic abuse throughout the borough, improve services for sufferers, and provide training for professionals to deal with abuse and to identify warning signs.

By liasing with voluntary and statutory organisations, the Safer Bridgend Partnership hopes to raise the profile of the forum and link in with more networks.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Natalie on 01656 679945
